Have Dinner at Seba’s in Uvita

Have Dinner at Seba’s in Uvita

If you want one really good dinner out, go to Seba’s.

It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Uvita, and one we’re especially proud to recommend because we supply some of the farm-to-table ingredients they use directly from Metamorfinca.

Make a night of it—spend the afternoon at the beach, change clothes and head into Uvita for dinner.

Visit the San Luis Waterfall

Visit the San Luis Waterfall

You don’t have to go far to find beautiful waterfalls here.

The San Luis Waterfall is right in our area and is one of our favorite options when you want an adventure without turning it into an entire day trip.

Bring your bathing suit, wear shoes that can get wet and don’t be in a rush.

Spend a Day at Playa Hermosa

Spend a Day at Playa Hermosa

For a beach day, we love Playa Hermosa. It’s a beautiful, long beach just north of Uvita and an easy place to spend a few hours swimming, walking and doing absolutely nothing.

For Metamorfinca guests, we can also connect you with our local partners to make more of a day out of it—whether that’s setting up a private beach picnic or arranging horseback riding.

04
Go to Nauyaca If You Have the Time

Go to Nauyaca If You Have the Time

If you have a little more time, Nauyaca Waterfalls is worth the trip.

It’s one of the area’s most impressive waterfall systems, with two major falls surrounded by rainforest and a natural pool below. You can hike in or use one of the 4x4 options to make the trip easier.

It’s more of an excursion than our local waterfall, so we usually recommend it when guests have a full day to explore.

Do Absolutely Nothing by the River

Do Absolutely Nothing by the River

This one is important. You do not need to spend every day in Costa Rica driving somewhere.

Metamorfinca has its own private river and swimming area, and one of our favorite ways to spend a day is to pack a few things, walk down to the river and stay there.

Swim. Read. Bring lunch. Sit on a rock. Listen to the water. That’s the activity.

Give Yourself a Quiet Morning in the Yoga Shala

Give Yourself a Quiet Morning in the Yoga Shala

Our bamboo yoga shala is another place we encourage guests to actually use—not only for a scheduled yoga class.

Wake up early, bring your coffee or tea, stretch, meditate, journal or just sit quietly and look out at the mountains.

There is something very different about giving yourself an hour of quiet here before the rest of the day begins.

07
Explore the Bamboo River

Explore the Bamboo River

Another local favorite is the Bamboo River, one of those places that reminds you how much there is to discover once you get off the main coastal highway.

It’s a great addition to a day spent exploring the smaller roads, rivers and communities in the mountains around us.

Take a Coffee Tour at Don Emilio’s

Take a Coffee Tour at Don Emilio’s

You can’t really spend time in Pérez Zeledón without learning something about coffee.

Café Don Emilio is right here in San Luis de Morete and offers a small, family-run coffee farm experience where you can see how coffee is grown and processed and, of course, taste it. Their tours include a plantation walk, coffee tasting, homemade pastries and seasonal fruit, with an option to add a traditional lunch.

It’s exactly the kind of experience we like sending guests to because you’re supporting a local family and actually getting to know the community you’re visiting.

Rent a 4x4 and Explore

Rent a 4x4 and Explore

If you’re renting a car, get the 4x4.

Some of the best parts of this area are down roads that don’t look particularly promising at first. A capable car gives you the freedom to explore the mountain roads around San Luis, drive down to the coast, find different beaches and waterfalls and stop somewhere simply because it looks interesting.

Costa Rica is a lot more fun when you’re not worried about whether your rental car can make it up the road.

Don’t Try to See Everything

Don’t Try to See Everything

This may actually be our biggest recommendation.

Pick a waterfall. Pick a beach. Have a good dinner. Drink some local coffee. And then leave some days empty.

One of the reasons we created Metamorfinca was to make the place you’re staying part of the experience. We have 22 acres of jungle and farmland, a river, animals, gardens, a bamboo yoga shala, pool, sauna, hot tub and plenty of places where you can disappear for a few hours.

You came all the way to Costa Rica. Give yourself enough time to actually be here.
